PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a panel light source device and a flat display capable of easily adjusting white balance in a wide range without causing the deterioration of picture quality such as a narrower dynamic range. SOLUTION: A panel light source device 1 as a backlight or a frontlight uses a fluorescent lamp 12 and LED lamps 11-R, 11-G, 11-B for respective colors, as light source. With the adjustment of the quantity of emission light of the LED lamps 11-R, 11-G, 11-B for respective colors, the adjustment of the white balance of illumination light and the improvement of color rendering properties are achieved without giving signal processing. Because of no need of signal processing, the deterioration of picture quality such as a narrower dynamic range of display signals is prevented in adjustment of white balance. |
