PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identify a lens iris drawn on a contact lens used in the human eye. SOLUTION: An iris image acquiring section 15 of the iris identification device 12 having the iris image acquiring section 15, a data extracting section 17, a data comparing and judging section 19 and an iris judging section 20 takes the image of the iris from the human eye and the data extracting section 17 extracts first characteristic data and second characteristic data from the varying regions of the iris image and the data comparing and judging section 19 compares the first characteristic data and the second characteristic data and judges the coincidence and noncoincidence of both data. When both data are judged to be mutually coincident, the iris judging section 20 judges the lens iris and when both data are judged to be mutually noncoincident, the iris judging section 20 judges the iris of the eye.
