PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized and lightweight electromagnet which generates a high attractive force by a smaller electric input as compared with an electromagnet in the conventional technique. SOLUTION: In an electromagnet in which the magnetic pole surface of a movable core 21 moving in the axial direction comes into contact with the magnetic pole surface of a fixed core 13 and separates therefrom, an axial direction recessed part 24 having an annular section is formed on one magnetic pole surface except the central part and the outer peripheral part, and a protruding part 15 which enters the recessed part 24 is formed on the other magnetic pole surface.
