DEVICE AND METHOD FOR REPRODUCING OPTICAL DISK INFORMATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information reproducing device and the method capable of compatibly reproducing two kinds of optical disks by the simple constitution. SOLUTION: In the information reproducing device for reproducing the optical disk having the 1st recording density and the optical disk having the 2nd recording density lower than the 1st recording density, plural tracks adjacent each other are irradiated with a main beam and a sub-beam by a light source. In this case, the main beam is provided with the dimension in the tangentil direction of track corresponding to the resolution of the optical disk having the 1st recording density and also provided with the shape long in the perpendicular direction of track of the optical disk. Reflected lights of the main beam and the sub-beam from the surface of the optical disk are respectively detected by a photodetecting element to reproduce the information of the optical disk based on the detected signal. Then, crosstalk components from the adjacent tracks included in the signal reproduced from the reflected light of the main beam are offset by using the signal reproduced from the reflected light of the sub-beam.
