PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module which controls polarization states of laser beams, which are emitted from plural optical fibers, within an allowable range. SOLUTION: This optical module makes laser light, which is emitted from a light source, incident on an optical fiber, and the range of an angle formed between the polarization direction or the direction perpendicular to this polarization direction of laser light emitted from the light source and the direction in which a stress is applied when fixing the optical fiber to a prescribed position is, controlled so that the angle of rotation in the polarization direction of laser light due to birefringence of the optical fiber which is caused by this stress lies within a prescribed range.
