PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an angle modulation device excellent in noise characteristics independent of phase noise contained in a light source. SOLUTION: This angle modulation device divides light outputted from a light source 101, and an optical intensity modulation part 104 provides one of the light with prescribed optical intensity modulation using a 1st electric signal of a prescribed frequency fc outputted from a 1st signal source 1031 as an original signal. Also, an angle modulation part 105 provides the other light with optical angle modulation using a 2nd electric signal outputted from a 2nd signal source 1032 as an original signal. A photo-detector 107 homodyne- detects the optical intensity modulated signal and optical angle modulated signal which are multiplexed through an optical multiplexer by the square detection characteristics, and generates and outputs an angle modulated signal as the difference beat signal with a center frequency fc of the original signal which is the output signal from the 2nd signal source 1032. This angle modulation device generates a wide band angle modulated signal by performing the optical signal processing as the above. |
