PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device in which the displayed images can be frequently changed to enhance the display effect of images and which is excellent from the viewpoint of the economical cost and the load on the environment. SOLUTION: The panels 4, 5 are produced by forming a color developing material into a light-transmissible plate material. The color developing material can reversibly switch its transparency or colors according to the difference in the gained temperatures due to the difference in heating conditions or according to the difference in the cooling rate. The drawing device 21 moves along the panels 4, 5. The drawing device 21 is provided with a linear thermal head on which a plurality of heat generating bodies to heat the pixels estimated in the color developing material to develop colors are arranged. An image pattern is formed by converting a desired image data into a driving signal by a signal processing circuit and by selectively driving each heat generating body by the driving signal to form an image pattern while moving the drawing device 21.
