PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the shutter device for a camera in which the changeover of a diaphragm is surely executed while suppressing the wasteful consumption of a battery. SOLUTION: A shutter lever 50 is held in a charged state by a delay lever 60, and the delay lever 60 is held in the charged state by a release lever 61. When shutter operation is executed, the locking of the delay lever 60 is released because the release lever 61 is rotated in a counterclockwise direction, and the delay lever 60 is rotated in the counterclockwise direction. A photometric switch 57 is turned on because an escapement wheel 73 is rotated with the rotation of the delay lever 60, so that the changeover of the diaphragm is started. Then, the locking of the shutter lever 50 is released, and the shutter lever 50 is rotated in the counterclockwise direction, so that exposure is executed. The rotational speed of the delay lever 60 is adjusted by a governor mechanism 62 so that the changeover of the diaphragm is executed before the shutter lever 50 is rotated.
