PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a power conversion efficiency and simplify a circuit, while the efficiency improvement which is achieved by providing a large capacity and low resistance current-limited resistor in an AC input line and providing a circuit which short-circuits the current-limited resistor and composed of an electromagnetic relays, thyristor-TRIACs, etc., is not necessary. SOLUTION: In addition to a power factor improvement circuit, which feeds a switching output back to a rectified current path and supplies a current intermittently to improve a power factor, a boosting means which superposes an alternating voltage upon a rectified output voltage switched by the power factor improvement circuit by a boosting winding is provided. Furthermore, a rush current at power supply closing is limited by a soft switching means using a transistor.
