PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize the display position of an image in an image display device which has an automatic display position adjusting function. SOLUTION: After detecting the change in input resolution (S1), display position optimum settings are repeated several times in a definite period (timer sitting time) (S4). Then, the display position optimum setting process optimally sets a display position even though input horizontal/vertical frequencies do not vary within the fixed period and enve if there exist signals in which only phases of synchronizing signals and image are varied.
