PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic servo valve, capable of making compatible prevention of pressure variation in shifting of forward motion and backward motion for a rod of a hydraulic cylinder and uniformization of responsiveness of the rod in the forward motion and the backward motion. SOLUTION: The area into of a first supply opening (a head side servo valve upstream opening area) S1, a first discharge opening (a rod side servo valve downstream opening area) S2, a second supply opening (a rod side servo valve upstream opening area) S3, and a second discharge opening (a head side servo valve downstream opening area) S4, which are fixed by the relative position of a sleeve 28 and a spool 30 of the hydraulic servo valve is determined, on the basis of the ratio of the cross section area of a head side hydraulic chamber and the cross-sectional area of a rod side hydraulic chamber of the hydraulic cylinder.
