PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air filter device having an easy maintenance. SOLUTION: A filter unit 11 is contained in the casing of the total heat exchanger 1 disposed in a ceiling space A. Telescopic expansion and contraction mechanisms 26, 26 are provided at both sides of the unit 11 in a longitudinal direction. The respective mechanisms 26 are each composed of a fixed rail 30 fixed to the casing 2, a first movable rail 31 internally engaged within the rail 30, and a second movable rail 32 internally engaged within the rail 31. The lower part of the unit 11 is coupled to the lower part of the rail 32. A balance means 38 for pulling upward the unit 11 is provided so as to be balanced with the gravity operating at the unit 11. A cover plate 47 covering an inspection opening 43 formed at a ceiling member 5 is coupled to the unit 11, and the unit 11 is vertically movably constituted in the opening 43.
