PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary electric machine that can surely prevent serious accident SOLUTION: This rotary electric machine is equipped with a stator 1 having a plurality of coil winding slots at an inner-periphery part, and a rotor 2 being arranged at the inner-periphery part of the stator and at the same time having a plurality of semienclosed coil winding slots at an outer-periphery part. In this case, the number of coil winding slots 11 of the rotor is larger than that of stator coil winding slots 3, the thickness it the radial direction of a projection member 14a that projects to the side of the coil winding slot from the outer- periphery part of a core tooth being formed between the adjacent coil winding slots of the rotor and forms the semienclosed coil winding slot is set larger than gap length (g) between the stator and rotor, and at the same time periphery-direction width W2 at the outer-periphery part of the core tooth is set larger than opening width W1 of the stator coil winding slot.
