PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select and display a caller's telephone number more easily by displaying similar information as a candidate when the corresponding caller's number is not matched with database information. SOLUTION: The communication apparatus of this invention includes a storage circuit 14 storing information about the caller's telephone number and a control circuit 12 which retrieves relevant information related to the caller's telephone number from the circuit 14 and displays the relevant information when the caller's telephone number is received from a network L1. When the caller's telephone umber notified from the network is further received, approximate information is extracted and displayed on a display 13 as a candidate on the bases of the caller's telephone number when the caller's telephone number is not matched as a result of retrieving the circuit 14 storing information related to the caller's telephone number.
