PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a memory device which reduces processing time in addition to using a memory effectively. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a memory 1 having a linear address space, a picture data writing means 2 for writing picture data of a work unit by address count-up control with an address, which is obtained by moving in the direction of a low-order address from the highest-order address of the space area of the memory by the portion of the area of a required work unit, as a start address, a stored data writing means 3 for writing stored data of the work unit from the lowest-order address of the space area by the address count-up control, a picture data reading means 4 for reading from the highest- order address of the picture data of the written work unit by address count- down control, and a picture data rewriting means 5 for writing by the address count-down control with the highest-order address of the picture data of the written work unit as the start address.
