PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make performable the thermal compensation of a scanning optical system to a laser beam source, a driving electric circuit for the laser beam source and the heat source of a driving motor for a polygon mirror. SOLUTION: This scanning optical system is equipped with at least a light source, a deflector, a 1st optical system guiding radiated luminous flux from the light source to the deflector, and a 2nd optical system condensing the luminous flux deflected and made to scan by the deflector on a surface to be scanned. In the system, at least one resin lens is included in the 1st and the 2nd optical system, respectively, the resin lens of the 1st optical system is an anamorphic lens having power only in a subscanning direction, and either one of an incident surface and an emitting surface is formed to be nearly spherical, then other surface is formed as toric shape having main power in the subscanning direction.
