摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magneto-optical recording medium which can decrease the consumption of electric power, a method of producing that medium, and a method and device for reproducing. SOLUTION: The magneto-optical disk 10 is produced by laminating a base layer 12, GdFeCo reproducing layer 13, GdFe intermediate layer 14, TbFeCo recording layer 15 and protective layer in this order on a substrate. The reproducing layer 13 is a perpendicularly magnetized film with dominant magnetization by rare earth elements. The intermediate layer 14 is a RE-rich intra-plane magnetization film showing no compensation point up to the Curie temperature. The recording layer 15 is a perpendicularly magnetized film with dominant magnetization by transition metals. When the magneto-optical disk 10 is reproduced, a double mask is formed by applying the initialization magnetic field 17 by an initialization magnet so that MSR reproducing is performed without applying a reproducing magnetic field in the irradiated region with laser beam.
