PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data input device for providing a virtual reality creation system by acquiring various kinds of information on an object. SOLUTION: A data input device 22 is provided with a casing having a scan plane, a distance sensor 40 for outputting a distance signal by measuring a distance between the scan plane and the object of scan and an RGB sensor 44 provided in the casing for outputting a measuring signal by detecting a prescribed attribute (color) on the surface of the scan object facing the scan plane. Further, this device can be provided with a position sensor 42 for detecting the position of the data input device, a capacitor sensor 46 for detecting the touch of a person from a capacity change and a video camera 48 for picking up the image of the scan object as well.
