PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely press and to thinly roll even the sheet strip having a comparatively hard edge. SOLUTION: In this press roller having a center shaft 11 being supported while restricted in its rotation, a cylindrical roller cell 12 mounted around the center shaft 11 and rotatably supported by the center shaft 11 at its both ends, and plural sheet pressing shoes 15 arranged in the axial direction of the center shaft 11 and slidably kept into contact with an inner peripheral surface of the roller cell 12, and holding a traveling sheet strip 1 between a counter roller and the roller cell 12 mounted opposite to each other, for pressing the sheet strip 1 from the inside of the roller cell 12 by plural sheet pressing shoes 15, at least one end thickness adjusting shoe 17 is respectively mounted outside of the sheet pressing shoes 15A at both ends among plural sheet pressing shoes 15 for adjusting the thickness of an end part of the sheet strip 1.
