PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stray light shielding structure for an optical waveguide module, which intercepts stray light from LD light passing round to a PD for reception to suppress the degradation of a reception sensitivity due to stray light components. SOLUTION: The upper face of a waveguide substrate 1, where a waveguide pattern 2 is formed, is metallized with a metal film 5 except an LD element-mounting part 4. The vapor-deposited metal film 5 has characteristics for reflecting light in a wavelength band, which is used by optical communication, without transmitting as in Au or WSi. The lower face and side face of the waveguide substrate 1 are metallized throughout with the metallic film 5 in the same manner as the upper face of the waveguide substrate 1. A waveguide core part 9, from which light is emitted, on the light emission end face of the waveguide substrate 1 is covered with a mask or the like, and the part other than the waveguide core part 9 is metallized with the metal film 5, and the waveguide substrate is covered with the metal film 5 throughout, except the waveguide core part 9 in the waveguide end face and the LD element mounting part 3. |
