PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the reduction in calibration precision of a force gauge by an earthquake, disturbance or the like in a torque calibrating apparatus. SOLUTION: This torque calibrating apparatus 1 generates a torque by adding weights 31a etc., to the tip side of a rotatably supported lever 10 and performs a torque calibration by use of the torque. This torque calibrating apparatus 1 comprises a long-period seismograph 40 capable of measuring a long-period quake and a control unit (maintenance mechanism) 50 capable of interrupting the torque calibration on the basis of the measurement value by the long-period seismograph 40.
