PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an OFDM transmission system that can always detect synchronization by accurately estimating a SWEEP symbol start position even under a situation where a CW symbol cannot be recognized due to the effect of a reflecting wave or the like. SOLUTION: A data transmitter employing an orthogonal frequency division multiplex modulation system conducts a correlation arithmetic operation processing on the basis of a detected sweep symbol start position as a reference by selecting a time after a prescribed symbol period from an end time for a start time of the sweep symbol when the end time of a null symbol is detected within a prescribed symbol period from the start time of the null symbol and selecting the end time for the start time of the sweep symbol when the end time of the null symbol is not detected within a prescribed symbol period from the null symbol start time.
