<p>Osteoarthritis (OA) is a debilitating disease involving degeneration of the articular cartilage of synovial joints. It is known that the susceptibility of an individual to osteroarthritis is affected by various loci within the genome. This invention relates to the identification, using genome-wide linkage analysis, of chromosomal regions on chromosome (16) which are linked to genetic sequences which affect susceptibility to osteoarthritis. Methods and means of determining the susceptibility to osteoarthritis of an individual are provided.</p> |
