The device has liquid output devices on a common axis, each with several outlets that can be actuated to output a liquid and an electrostatic field generator, whereby the liquid output devices and the field generator are at a distance apart so as to define a region through which the substrate can be moved. The electrostatic field attracts the liquid material in continuous, elongated tracks to the moving substrate. The device has several liquid output devices (16) aligned on a common axis, whereby each liquid output device has several outlets that can be actuated to output a liquid (12) and an electrostatic field generator that can be actuated to produce an electrostatic field, whereby the liquid output devices and the field generator are at a distance apart so as to define a region through which the substrate (14) can be moved. The electrostatic field attracts the liquid material in continuous, elongated tracks from the outlets to the moving substrate.
