The friction lining carrier manufacturing process involves fitting a number of retention elements (10), made of a material which can be welded, onto a carrier also made of a material which can be welded. This involves guiding a vacuum template box (14) over a bed (18) on which the retention elements lie to suck the retention elements to the borings (16) before welding them.
