The invention relates to a device for creating air curtains on door openings (1), in particular on vehicles used in suburban traffic. According to the invention, the air curtain, which forms a barrier against the penetration of hot air into the cavity behind the door opening (1), covers an area between the roof end of the door opening (1) and a section which lies below said roof end, the air curtain below the roof end being thereby limited to a height (h>S<) of between at minimum a third and at maximum a half of the total height (h>G<) of the door opening.
