A hinge assembly for a gaming machine comprises a hinge pin (18), fixed to a main door of a gaming machine and an outer sleeve (46) fixed to a belly door frame. The outer sleeve (46) comprises first and second arcuate arms so that the sleeve is part-annular in cross-section defining a gap between opposing ends of the arms. A support surface or ledge (49) is defined on an interior surface of the sleeve, below the top of the sleeve; A part-annular pin (86) element is fixed to a light chamber which in use is located behind the belly door frame. The pin (86) is rotatably mounted inside the outer sleeve (49) and includes a shoulder (85) which in use rests on the support surface (49) defined by the outer sleeve (46). A second gap is defined between free ends of the pin element (86). When the pin element (86) is rotated to a particular orientation with respect to the outer sleeve (46), the first and second gaps align to allow the pin element (86) and outer sleeve element (46) to be simultaneously mounted around the hinge pin (18). Subsequent relative rotation of the pin element (86) and outer sleeve (46) misaligns the gaps preventing the pin element (86) and outer sleeve (46) from becoming disengaged from the hinge pin (18).
