Excellent flame retardancy is imparted to an aromatic polyamide resin without the need of using a halogen compound causative of generation of a gas harmful to the human body and without impairing the desirable properties inherent in the aromatic polyamide resin (mechanical properties, moldability, etc.). The flame-retardant aromatic polyamide resin composition is obtained by compounding (a) 100 parts by weight of an aromatic polyamide resin with (b) 0.1 to 100 parts by weight of a phosphazene compound crosslinked with a crosslinking group, e.g., a phenylene group, in which the crosslinking group is present between two oxygen atoms from which a phenyl group has been eliminated, the crosslinked compound containing no free hydroxyl group in the molecule and having a phenyl group content of 50 to 99.9% based on the total number of all phenyl groups contained in the phosphazene compound, (c) 1 to 60 parts by weight of a fibrous inorganic substance, and (d) 1 to 60 parts by weight of magnesium hydroxide.
|
