An emergency escape device (100, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800) for a high rise building which typically has a small length of its descending belt (110) clamped between shafts (120A-120F), or profiled metal plates (780, 790) so that during operations the belt (110) slides and rubs in opposite directions and generates sufficient friction to break the fall of the user to an acceptable range. With the further use of a control belt (112) linked to built-in braking components, the descending speed of the user can be further reduced and/or to a complete stop during the course of descending. The two ends of the descending belt are capable of delivering operation in alternative and continued manner.
|
