The device uses a fluid flow mixed with solid bodies with a flow channel formed by a wall (21) to guide the fluid flow with at least one opening (23) for passing the wire (1) through into the fluid flow. The openings are arranged one after the other in the flow direction and have a cross-section corresponding to that of the wire. Independent claims are also included for the following: a method of cleaning or surface treatment of wires, especially for removing coatings.
