The appts. for automatic suckling of young animals, and especially calves, has a teat (1) with a supply line (2) to carry the liquid food from a mixing vessel (3). A distributor head (4) to clean the teat with a cleaning fluid has a holder (5) which carries the teat, at least temporarily, during the cleaning action. The teat and/or the distributor head are on moving mountings coupled to a controlled drive.
