<p>1338770 Rubber-polypentenamer compositions BAYER AG 23 Dec 1971 [24 Dec 1970] 60020/71 Heading C3P [Also in Division B5] Rubber compositions comprise (a) 5 to 95 weight per cent of ethylene/propylene rubber and (b) 95 to 5 weight per cent of polypentenamer rubber. The olefin copolymer rubber may contain 20 to 80 weight per cent ethylene, 80 to 20 weight per cent propylene and optionally up to 15 weight per cent of a polyene, e.g. hexadiene-1,4, ethylidene norbornene, methylene norbornene, tetrahydroindene, dicyclopentadiene, 2 - methylpentadiene - 1,4, cycloheptadiene - 1,4, cyclooctadiene - 1,5, dicyclo(3,2,0)- heptadiene-2,6, 1,2-divinyl cyclobutane, 1,2,4, - trivinyl cyclohexane, 2 - buten - 2 - yl norbornene - 5 and decatriene - 1,4,9. The polypentenamer preferably comprises more than 30% of double bonds in trans configuration. The compositions have good building tack and green strength and may be used for making tyres and hoses. Examples describe compositions of polypentenamers and (1) ethylene/ propylene copolymers, (2) ethylene/propylene/ dicyclopentadiene copolymers and (3 and 4) ethylene/propylene/ethylidene norbornene copolymers, together with carbon black, zinc oxide, phenyl-α-naphthylamine and optionally aromatic extender oil and N-phenyl-N<SP>1</SP>-isopropylphenylene-diamine.</p> |
