PURPOSE: A method for controlling an anti-lock brake system is provided to precisely control a brake by separately calculating the reference speed of each wheel and compensating the error of the reference speed. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling an anti-lock brake system comprises the steps of: measuring the real wheel speed of each wheel; setting the reference speed of each non-driving wheel by the real wheel speed; finding the compensation value of each driving wheel by the difference between the real wheel speed of each driving wheel and the average wheel speed of each non-driving wheel; and setting the reference speed of driving wheel by the real wheel speed and the compensation value.
