The invention relates to aqueous coating compositions containing the following: A) 5.0 to 50.0 wt. % epoxide resins which represent conversion products of bisphenol-A and/or bisphenol-F and epichlorohydrin; B) 5.0 to 55.0 wt. % water-dilutable epoxide resin hardeners; C) 10.0 to 80.0 wt. % fillers; D) 0.1 to 5.0 wt. % wax-based open time extenders; E) 0.1 to 5.0 wt. % rheology additives; F) 1.0 to 20.0 wt. % water and G) 0 to 70 wt. % other additives and/or processing auxiliary agents, the sum of the weight percentages of components A) to G) being 100 wt. %. The inventive compositions are especially suitable use as compensating and insulating materials.
