Process for withdrawing a gas sample comprises feeding the gas (8) to be investigated through a capillary (12) into a thin layer reaction tube so that the outlet of the capillary lies behind the beginning of the layer (14) containing the detection reagent. A carrier gas from the inlet (10) of the thin layer reaction tube is optionally passed into the same flow direction as the gas being investigated. An additional curve region of a reflection-locus curve is produced by the process for the evaluation.
