QUAD/HAMSTRING EXERCISE APPARATUS

A quad/hamstring muscle exercise (10) is disclosed. The apparatus includes a base structure (12) having a central support member (14) secured to a vertically oriented resistance assembly (22) with a resistance member (28). The apparatus further includes a cable (24) linking the resistance member to a user interface (49) coupled to an end (54, 58) of the cable. A first pulley (64) is pivotally mounted adjacent a lower end (82) of the resistance assembly (22). The cable passes over the first pulley to direct the cable toward the lower body of an individual using the exercise apparatus. The first pulley also includes a cylindrical member (78) through which the cable passes such that the cable extends substantially along an axis about which the first pulley pivots.
