The method involves determining objective criteria to determine the component variations. A component variant tree, to illustrate the variants is drawn up from the determined objective criteria. At least one objective evaluation criterion is fixed to evaluate the determined variation. Data are produced according to the evaluation criterion to indicate the component variation and are used to complete the variant tree. The component variant is evaluated using the data.
