A process for the production of optically active cyclic enaminone derivative s, characterized by aminating one of the carbonyl groups of a cyclic 1,3-diketo ne derivative having a symmetry plane to thereby obtain an optical isomer mixtu re of a chiral cyclic enaminone derivative and subjecting this mixture to optic al resolution.
