A fuel injection valve (1), especially a fuel injection valve for fuel injection systems of internal combustion engines, has a piezoelectric or magnetostrictive actuator (8), a valve needle (15) which can be actuated by the actuator (8) by means of a hydraulic temperature compensation device, and a valve closing body (28) which is actuated by the valve needle (15), and which interacts with a valve seat surface (14) to form a sealed seat. Said temperature compensation device comprises a needle carrier sleeve (31) which encompasses a valve needle collar (32) of the valve needle (15) and encloses said valve needle (15) in sections with a needle carrier collar (32). The needle carrier sleeve (31) also encloses a temperature compensation area (27) with the valve needle (15), said temperature compensation area (27) being connected to a fuel inlet (4) by a directional valve (29) so that said temperature compensation area (27) can be filled with fuel.
