A METHOD FOR PRODUCING SEEDS HAVING ALTERED PROTEIN/FATTY ACID COMPOSITION

A method for altering the protein/fatty acid of seeds by introducing antisen se gene, it comprises the following steps: (1) the cloning of genes of the phosphoenopyruvate carboxylase or acetyl-CoA carboxylase, or their fragments ; (2) the construction of the corresponding antisense gene; (3) introducing antisense gene into the cell of oilseeds crop, so that the activity of the phosphoenopyruvate carboxylase or the acetyl-CoA carboxylase which is the ke y enzyme for protein synthesis will be changed, the flow direction of the biosynthetic co-substrate PEP could be ajusted, so that the protein/fatty ac id composition of seeds will be altered. The application can be used for alteri ng the protein/fatty acid composition of oilseeds crop.
