A connector device for connecting a smart card 22 to a computer comprises a receptacle 14 having an upwardly facing opening 18 for receiving the card, and a projection 36 next to the opening. The projection has a surface 40, and so the card can be removed from the receptacle with just one hand, the middle finger pushing against the surface while the thumb and forefinger pull the card out.
