The invented method of chilling, cooling or likewise refrigerating a product with the aid of the cold content of a condensed gas is carried out in such a manner that the product, preferably in a gas or liquid state, is caused to pass through at least one product-cooling heat-exchanger, the condensed gas is vaporized in at least one evaporation heat-exchanger and the vaporized gas is delivered to the product-cooling heat-exchanger for cooling the product therein, whereby the gas heated by the product in the product-cooling heat-exchanger is then returned to the evaporation heat-exchanger for vaporization of the condensed gas contained therein. The apparatus for cooling the product by employing the above indicated method and by means of cold of a condensed gas comprises at least one product-cooling heat-exchanger (20), through which the product being preferably in a gas or liquid state ought to pass, further at least one evaporation heat-exchanger (30) for evaporation of the condensed gas, a third piping (3) for delivery of the evaporated gas to the product-cooling heat-exchanger (20), in order to cool the product contained therein and a fourth piping (4) for return of gas heated by the product in the product-cooling heat-exchanger (20) back to the evaporation heat-exchanger (30) in order to evaporate the condensed gas contained therein.
