In the present invention there is disclosed a process for preparing a catalyst carrier. The preparation process is characterized in that hydrophilic, macroporous, disperse aluminium oxide, silicon dioxide, titanium dioxide or zirconium oxide or mixtures thereof, optionally mixed oxides are dried at a temperature ranging from 110 to 800 degC, than they are brought into reaction with aluminox and subsequently with polyfunctional organic cross-linking agents. In the other stage the catalyst carrier can be mixed with a reaction product of metallocenes and activators, whereby a metallocene-supported catalyst is obtained, which is used particularly for polymerization of olefins.
