Data can be transferred between devices, e.g. mobile phones, personal organizers, PCs or game consoles, each of which holds similar kinds of data. Information relating to the data in a first data structure e.g. a database in a first device is transmitted over a wireless link to the second device, where the second data structure is modified by the received information. The invention may be used for example in an electronic game, where the data structure represents a stack of cards. In the game, values associated with the cards are compared to decide a winner. Information is then exchanged to bring the stack of cards up to date. The invention reduces the amount of information which needs to be transmitted and avoids the necessity of using WAP technology, since the information transfer can be achieved using SMS, CBS or USSD data streams. |
