PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for detecting and controlling a position of a magnetic head and an optical head are provided to improve reliability in recording/reproducing by controlling the position of a magnetic head and an optical pick-up to the normal position. CONSTITUTION: An optical magnetic disk(2) comprises a recording level(2a) and a reproducing level(2b). An optical pick-up concentrates a light to the optical magnetic disk(2) and changes a reflected light beam into an electric signal. A position control driving unit(20) controls a position of a magnetic head. An analog to digital converter(14) is connected in series between the optical pick-up and the position control driving unit(20). A micom(16) and a digital to analog converter are equipped.
