摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a catalyst having high activity in selectively oxidizing carbon monoxide in a hydrogen-containing gas, provide a method for removing carbon monoxide by using the catalyst and a solid polyelectrolyte type fuel battery system using the catalyst. SOLUTION: This catalyst is obtained by depositing ruthenium on an alumina hydrate. The carbon monoxide removing method comprises a step of adding oxygen of the amount necessary for oxidizing at least a part of the carbon monoxide contained in the gas, which is rich in hydrogen compared with carbon monoxide on the volume basis and a step of contacting the oxygen-added gas with the catalyst. The solid polyelectrolyte type fuel battery system is constituted by making good use of this method.
