PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for constructing a tissue body for mammalian cells that are viable for a long period of time without adverse effect on the intrinsic functions of the mammalian cells and provide a cell culture module that is useful for production of useful substances and is applicable to hybrid type artificial internal organs by incorporating the tissue ladies in high compactness. SOLUTION: This invention provides a cell culture module that is characterized by arranging hollow fibers passing through individual small holes bored on two or more of regularly arranged spacers, thus providing the module structure in which the hollow fibers are regularly and compactly arranged, and an artificial liver module which is filled with hepatocytes, and a cell culture process is provided which is characterized by filling the bores or the outer bores of the hollow fibers with cells centrifugally and the cells filled in are cultured. Further, the cell culture process is characterized by culturing hepatocytes in a culture medium including DMEM as a basal medium.
