PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To grow and harvest kenaf, an annual plant originating from Africa, in fallow rice paddies and to allow mushrooms to grow on the grown kenaf plant bodies whereby mushrooms can be grown from the mycelium grown and matured in the natural environments and the resultant mushrooms have better tastes than those of the mushrooms grown in saw dust. SOLUTION: The stems of grown kenaf 2 are bundled with rubber bands or thermally shrinkable polyethylene strings into a rod form of 30 cm diameter and 25 cm length. The spawns of a mushroom are inoculated into the sponge- like center holes of the kenaf stems. The spawns can quickly proliferate into the kenaf material and the stems adapt themselves to the natural environments in no need of pasteurization. This process can be more prolong the ripening period of the mushrooms to give the mushrooms of high quality.
