PURPOSE: A recording/reproducing device is provided to perform the high speed recording of data recorded on a CD to an HDD, while reproducing the data at a specified speed, which are read out from the CD. CONSTITUTION: PCM data in the amount of e.g. 10 sec of reproducing time are read out from a CD and stored in a memory(SEQ 70). The data are properly read out from the memory(SEQ 71) and converted to analog audio signals by a D/A converter then outputted. Meanwhile, the data for recording are read out from the CD succeeding to the read-out for reproduction and stored in the memory(SEQ 80). The data read out from the memory(SEQ 81) are compressively encoded by an encoder and stored in the memory(SEQ 82). These data are read out from the memory(SEQ 83) at a recording unit of the HDD and recorded to an HDD. The processing of the SEQ 71 is most preferentially made, and when the amount of the data for reproduction stored in the memory becomes the prescribed amount or smaller, the interruption is made to the recording processing, then the next reproducing data are read out from the CD and stored in the memory(SEQ 72). |
