PURPOSE: To prevent flicker and burning from occurring in an active matrix liquid crystal display device having a main display region and a sub-display region differing in the size of pixel region from each other. CONSTITUTION: Counter electrodes corresponding to a main display region and a sub-display region are arranged separately, and optimal voltages according to the respective sizes of the pixel regions are applied to the counter electrode for the main display region and that for the sub-display region.
